What brings you joy?

Here's the problem I’ve found:

Joy can feel hard to find.

Because you're tired at the end of the day. Because it feels like a lot of work to take out your old craft supplies. Because no one else is free to do something fun and insta-worthy. Becuase Only Murders in the Building is coming back and so you have to re-watch the first season, eyes glazed over, while you're on your phone anyway, not enjoying the show or being present anyway.

I accepted this for a long time.

I had fun when I have fun... when it's a planned event, when someone else invited me and I actually meant my , "yes I'll be there!", and every so often I'd have TRUE by surprise. The rest of the time, I'd kind of float in complacency - the day was fine, the dinner was fine, work was fine. Do you resonate?

And then I met Dana.

Dana started coaching with the goal of bringing more fun and engagement to her life. FOR REAL: fun and enjoyment. For me, Dana's got role-model status on this one.

Dana knew so deeply that she deserved fun and engagement that I got the chance to be on her team and build out a new approach to life focused on JOY.

And now a year later, I sat down to talk with Dana about the her journey toward building a more joyful life, how she did it and what she's looking forward to this summer.

Here are the takeaways:

  1. The joy is about letting go of the outcomes.

  2. It takes work to find joy.

  3. It takes practice to find joy.

  4. It takes failure to find joy that's true for you.

  5. And it's worth it.

Join Dana and I as we gush about JOY.

You'll walk away a bit more aware of the joy you deserve in your life, a reminder that it's usually grounded in the simple things, and perhaps some next steps to kick off a summer you'll never forget.
