Gratitude Glasses

I started 2021 with a commitment to 21 days of gratitude.

Why? Well goodness gracious, I was on team #getmeoutof2020 and wanted to start 2021 on a less cynical, more hopeful foot.

Also, this year I’m going to try a few things I’ve never done before:

  • Launch a business

  • Navigate my own schedule, of my own making, hopefully in balance

  • Make a knit sweater

  • Achieve more than 4 days in a row exercising :)

  • Begin a meditation practice

Yes, some of these seem bigger than others… and yet ALL would be significant for me. Before all the anxious self-talk such as, “can I really do this?” and, “who do I think I am?” not to mention, “am I embarrassing myself?” fully set in my mind, I committed to gratitude as an antidote.

Gratitude Challenges Worry

To, “can I really do this?” Gratitude challenges, “Look at how ready you’ve become!”

To, “who do I think I am?” Gratitude exclaims, “Notice the authentic strengths you bring with you today.”

To, “am I embarrassing myself?” Gratitude reminds, “You have so many lessons to treasure and apply.”

What Can Gratitude Do For You?

Consider a goal, challenge or anxiety point in your life… one that seems like a mountain to climb, no matter how positively motivating it is. Grab your sparkly, 2021 shaped gratitude glasses:

  • What experiences have gifted you the opportunity to get ready to take this on?

  • Which of your unique strengths are you most grateful to be able to use right now?

  • Of the many lessons you’ve learned, which ones are you coming to appreciate the most?
