Energy Check!
One of the most impactful elements of my formal coach training with the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching has been my introduction to Core Energy Leadership.
The premise is this:
Our energy impacts everything - our thoughts, feelings, actions and results.
We are complex! Each of us have a unique balance of energies that show up differently when we are having a good day or when things have gone totally off course.
The more we can raise awareness of our energy - the more we can make intentional choices about how we show up in ways that serve us and our impact on others
You can gain awareness of your energy levels through reflection or through engaging in the Energy Leadership Index Assessment (which I’m happy to offer you!).
Regardless of your choice, here is a glimpse at the levels and an exercise to consider for each to help you grow awareness and shift your energy if you are so inclined!
I recently had a fellow coach lead my own Energy Leadership Index assessment and learned I have a lot of level 5 and 6 energy on good days, and level 1 energy when I get stressed. When I’m feeling Level 1, you’ll likely find me on the couch, eating mac and cheese and watching White Collar. While this routine gives me an opportunity to rest - it ultimately doesn’t help me be the person of action and connection I want to be.
I’m working on shifting my own energy up when I’m stressed or overwhelmed. Ideally, I’d like to be a person who reaches up to level 4 and 5! Sure, I’m stressed and overwhelmed, but who can I be in solidarity with? As I learn about their own needs, reactions and hopes, how can I move toward collective action alongside them?
